My Approach
Your experience with me will incorporate various counselling techniques such as:
Transpersonal Psychology
Transpersonal psychology which refers to encouraging the individual to find one’s true self beyond things like appearance, age, gender, physical space, culture, etc. This approach works to expand an individual’s qualities and spiritual consciousness beyond the ego. Meditation and visualization are techniques used to achieve this type of self-exploration and personal growth.
Bowen Family Systems
Bowen Family Systems is the theory of human behavior that considers one’s family as an emotional unit and their relationship and interactions within the family. It is an understanding of how all of the members affect and impact each other’s thoughts, feelings, and actions individually and as a whole. This family structure, culture, and value system can date back generations and is unique to each.
Gestalt
Gestalt therapy focuses on non-judgmental self-awareness that helps clients to develop a different perspective on life. The goal is to become more aware of how they think, feel, and react in the present moment. It provides one with the tools to help alleviate their current issues and distress, ultimately working toward their full potential.
Person Centered Therapy
This approach sees human beings as having an inherent tendency to develop towards their full potential. One’s potential can be altered or distorted by experiences where feeling loved or valued is conditional based on certain thoughts or behaviors. This results in striving to feel valued, thus denying our awareness of these inner experiences that are believed to be unacceptable. The focus is to uncover one’s true self, values, and sense of worth without judgement in order to move forward.
