Parminder Thind, RTC (she/ her) Counsellor, Founder, and has sat on the Board Executive Committee as Director and Secretary for ACCT, (the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists). She was also the past Secretary and Chair of the ACCT Equity Committee where she is making a difference in the ways in which people of colour are viewed. Are you looking for someone to lean on and share without judgment? I believe we all want to be heard and not feel self-conscious. My approach to therapy is listening with an open heart and using a non-judgmental approach. My own experience with therapy began years ago and I did not know that I had a choice of finding someone I can connect with. Someone with similar background, beliefs and values would have benefited me greatly and I would have felt understood. I believe the client – therapist relationship should be honored, feel comfortable and not pressured. We will work together, speak about your challenges and come up with the right resources and tools so that you are in charge of your healing. My interest is in family systems, intergenerational trauma, personal relationships, and anxiety. In my training I have learned about reflective processes, Gestalt observation and other methods that I value in both my personal and professional relationships. We can work with all of these tools and determine what’s best for you in order to implement them in your life. We will work at your pace and direction. In my downtime, I enjoy cooking, yoga, Reiki healing, exercise, learning and the company of family and friends. I speak both English and Punjabi. I am here to help you. My name is Parminder Thind, and I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor. I provide counselling for adults who are looking for support with stress, self esteem, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders and body dysmorphia. You may have been handling things on your own or with the support of friends and family. At a certain point you wonder if therapy would help. Many have a tendency to put off counselling for fear that it won’t work for them, or because it can be awkward to take that first step. We will approach therapy together with openness and non-judgment. We should feel safe when we are sharing vulnerably and I create safe sacred space. My intention is to listen to you about your challenges. I have seen firsthand that even the most painful, stuck patterns and emotions can be transformed to make way for a more joyful and fulfilling life. I am English speaking and Punjabi is my second language.
